AA will ONLY accept Live Animals when the origin, connecting, and destination temperatures fall between 45ºF (7ºC) and 85ºF (29ºC) unless the Shipper provides a Certificate of Acclimation signed by an accredited Veterinarian. Regardless of the temperatures stated on the Certificate of Acclimation, AA will NOT accept Live Animals when the origin, connecting, and destination temperatures exceed 85ºF (29ºC) OR fall below 20ºF (-7ºC).
Every question MUST be completed and reviewed with the Shipper. Questions answered with “No” must be corrected before acceptance.

2. If visible, does the animal appear fit for travel? Note: If the animal exhibits any signs of illness, injury, or aggressive behavior,
DO NOT ACCEPT the animal.
3. If the animal is a cat or dog, has the Shipper confirmed the animal has not been sedated or given tranquilizing drugs (including over-
the counter sedatives and/or tranquilizing drugs)?
4. Is the animal old enough to be shipped? Note: Check the health certificate. Cats and dogs must be at least 8 weeks old; primates must
be at least 6 months old.
5. Have advance arrangements been made if the destination city will be closed on arrival or requires quarantine, etc.?

addition to 1 copy. It must be from an accredited Veterinarian and must be dated no more than 10 days before the day of travel.
9. If the animal is a cat or dog, is there a valid Rabies Certificate?
Note: For shipments within the U.S, a Rabies Certificate or combination Health and Rabies Certificate is required for cats and
dogs older than 3 months. International requirements vary.
10. If the animal is being tendered for an international or interline flight, has the Shipper complied with all government requirements,
(including import licenses, permits, CITES permits, etc.) and/or carrier exceptions?

Feeding and Watering

Veterinarian.

Note: Orientation and “LIVE ANIMAL” labels must be affixed to the top of the container, and 1 side of the container,
and must be at least 1 inch (2.54 cm.) high.
Containers
Note: The following types of containers are prohibited: kennels made entirely of wicker, welded mesh or wire mesh; snap, softsided,
cardboard, knock-down, folding or collapsible kennels; kennels with plastic doors; kennels with wheels (unless they are retractable, removable, taped, or otherwise rendered inoperable); and kennels with top opening doors.

rest comfortably?
Note: Each cat and dog must have its own container, except when there are: 2 kittens or puppies between 8 weeks
and 6 months old, are similar in size, and weigh less than 20 lbs (9.1 kgs) each.
c. Clean with no offensive odors?
d. Rigid and secure enough so that the animal cannot escape through gaps or poke through any openings in the container?
e. Leak-proof with a solid floor that is covered with absorbent material to absorb any accidents?
Note: Hay, straw, and wood-shavings are not permitted as an absorbent material.
f. Constructed so that the animal can be easily removed in an emergency?
g. Constructed with adequate handles or lifting devices if the animal is a cat or dog?
h. Constructed with a solid top and a metal grated door if the animal is a cat or dog?
i. Constructed with ventilation openings on at least 3 sides and have a spacer bar or rim protruding at least ¾ inches (1.9 cm) on all
sides to ensure the kennel’s ventilation openings cannot be blocked?
Note: International shipments require ventilation openings on all 4 sides.
j. Secured with releasable cable ties on all 4 corners of the door if the animal is a cat or dog?
